Osun Popular Politician, Remi Wilson, Dies At 67…What You Need To Know About Her

Hon Remi Wilson, a popular female politician in Osun state, is dead.

The deceased politician had given no one signs of imminent departure from the planet earth,  there was actually no cause  to worry  as she was hale and hearty and had not only attended Christmas church service  in her hometown , Ilobu, Irepodun local government, Osun state, but had also returned home to relax and receive visitors.

Team@orientactualmags.com  learned that after eating pounded yam , she began to receive visitors and  chit-chat with her guests until about 9pm on Monday night.

She later retired to bed unknown to those who had visited her residence that it was the last time they would converse with her.

Wilson suddenly began to feel unwell in the middle of the night and she died as she was being taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Hon Remi Wilson, who died at 67, was a very popular female politician in Osun state and she was known for her unflagging and total loyalty to  Otunba Iyiola Omisore.

Wilson, an APC bigwig, also had her name featured prominently in the Osun state PDP  intraparty conflict  that began in 2004 and ended in 2006.

Former Minister for Internal Affairs, late Chief S.M Afolabi , who was instrumental in the emergence of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as governor of Osun state in 2003, was recognized by all as the state PDP  leader while Otunba Iyiola Omisore was considered as a principal and an important stakeholder in the party.

Otunba Iyiola Omisore

Oyinlola was seeking  Osun Central PDP nomination before having the gubernatorial nomination placed on his laps and Omisore , who had served as Deputy Governor under Chief Bisi Akande and had wanted to dislodge him, naturally saw the new  administration as his ‘own’.

Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola

What stood as the starting point for intraparty conflict in Osun state PDP began in  2004, when Omisore while responding to a reporter’s question at Afolabi’s funeral ceremony in Iree,  referred to himself as  the new state PDP Leader.

A meeting was hurriedly convened and attended by stakeholders in the party in Okuku where the then Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola was announced as the new State PDP leader.

At the start of Oyinlola administration in 2003, Omisore  had not only had his loyalists  nominated as cabinet members but also had Hon Remi Wilson, his nominee, appointed as Commissioner for Finance.

After the relationship between Oyinlola and Omisore got strained, Wilson was moved to the Ministry of Women Affairs .

Ahead of the 2007 guber election, a theater of high-wire politics had surfaced  considering the array of political enemies waiting in an ambush for Oyinlola, who was seeking re-election.

The celebration of the third anniversary  of his administration in May 2006 featured activities that included inauguration of infrastructure projects , golf tournaments, and this was climaxed with a democracy rally at Alekuwodo , Oshogbo.

Omisore , who was then the representative of Osun East in the Senate ,was however not only absent at all the events, all his loyalists including Alhaji Jeleel Adesiyan, Menre , and Aremo Kunde Alao also stayed away from the event..

The then President Olusegun Obasanjo apparently noticed this and later presided over a peace meeting at the Presidential Villa , Abuja,  in August 2006 where Omisore was told to allow Oyinlola seek re-election while he ( Omisore) would retain his parliament seat-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
