Ramadan/Lent: Gov Adeleke Reduces Working Hours For Osun Workers

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has approved reduction of working hours for workers in the state as Ramadan and Lent get underway.

Governor Ademola Adeleke in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed noted that the reduction of working hours is intended to support workers during the fasting season.

The governor further explained that the new schedule will take effect from today, Thursday, February 19, 2026, as contained in the circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina which was dated February 19, 2026, and titled ‘Closure of Work During Ramadan and Lent Fasting Periods’.

‘As part of the welfare packages of the State Government for its workforce, the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Sen. (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has graciously approved that public servants should leave their respective workplaces at 2:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, and 1:00 p.m. on Fridays, during the ongoing Ramadan and Lent seasons only.

This kind gesture by the governor is to enable public servants have sufficient time to pray for the existing peace and tranquility in the state to continue unhindered, especially as gubernatorial election will be held in the state this year.

However, those on essential services, especially medical personnel, are excluded from this arrangement in view of the life-saving nature of their duties.
