Shehu Sani Calls Nasir El-Rufai’s Emergence As Cabinet Nominee ‘A Tragedy’
A human right activist, who is also the President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, and the Chairman of Hand-in-Hand, Africa, former Senator Shehu Sanni, has called the emergence of former governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-rufai as cabinet nominee ‘a tragedy’.
President Bola Tinubu had according to him chosen to appease former governors rather than appeasing Nigerians and bringing in competent hands.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Sani said this in an interview with Arise TV News and this had since gotten promoted on social media.
President Bola Tinubu had on Thursday made 28 cabinet nominations and the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio had read out the names of the nominees on the floor of the senate.
The cabinet nominees are Abubakar Momoh, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar , Arch. Ahmed Dangiwa, Barr. Hannatu Musawa, Chief Uche Nnaji, Dr. Betta Edu, Dr. Dorris Aniche Uzoka, former governor David Umahi, former governor Nyesom Wike, former governor Badaru Abubakar , former governor Nasiru Ahmed El-rufai, Rt. Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo, Hon. Nkiru Onyeojiocha, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, Hon. Stella Okotette, Hon. Uju Kennedy Ohaneye, Mr. Bello Muhammad G., Mr. Dele Alake, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi SAN, Mr. Muhammad Idris, Mr. Olawale Edun, Mr. Waheed Adebayo Adelabu, Mrs. Iman Suleiman Ibrahim, Professor Ali Pate, Professor Joseph, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Senator John Eno and Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi.
‘In the nomination which I have seen, the one that represents Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, is a tragedy.
That such a man is given an opportunity again to serve this country with all he has done and said in the office, I don’t think President Tinubu means well.
It is not the best time to please and appease former governors but the best time to appease Nigerians and bring in competent hands.
The list to some large extent is a big disappointment or meet expectations taking the time it took for it to be released’ Sanni said.
Shehu Sanni and El-rufai are longtime friends ,who later became rivals.
While they had both sought to get nominated as APC candidate ahead of the 2015 Kaduna state gubernatorial election, El-rufai eventually got party nomination while Sanni became the Kaduna Central senate candidate.
Ahead of the 2019 general election, the former senator had tried to stop El-rufai from getting renominated and sought to have himself emerged as his replacement.
The former governor however fought back and ensured that Sanni was forced out of the APC while he ensured that the former senator’s best of buddies , Alhaji Uba Sanni emerged as Kaduna Central APC senate candidate.
Shehu Sanni eventually left APC for PRP on October 20, 2018 , Uba Sanni , however, not only won the Kaduna Central senate election in 2019 but also got elected as governor of Kaduna state in March this year-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
