Atiku Condemns Abduction Of Adelabu’s Younger Sister, Laments Worsening Security Situation
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Mrs Olaide is former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s younger sister and Alhaji Atku Abubakar has submitted that this has confirmed the worsening security situation in the country and also stood as a proof that no one is immune from kidnapping in Nigeria.
Adelabu’s younger sister and her children were abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
The woman was taking her children to school when armed assailants reportedly ambushed her car and took them away .
‘The family of Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Power and leading governorship aspirant of APC in Oyo State, wishes to formally confirm the unfortunate kidnapping of his younger sister, Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, alongside her twin sons, Peter and Paul, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026’ the former minister’s media aide, Femi Awogboro submitted.
‘Mrs. Adegoke John-Paul is the youngest of the five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. Until her voluntary retirement last year, she had served meritoriously at both the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian.
Following her retirement, she relocated to Ibadan with her children while making preparations to eventually join her husband, Mr. John Paul, who had earlier relocated to the United States of America’ he added
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who is the ADC presidential candidate, commented on the issue in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu on Wednesday, and he has called for immediate and unconditional release of the victims. He also urged security agencies to deploy all available resources towards their safe rescue and the arrest of those responsible.
‘The fact that kidnappers could strike in such a prominent public space without fear of interception speaks volumes about the worsening security situation in the country.
Kidnappers do not ask for party membership cards before striking. They do not distinguish between APC members and opposition supporters. They do not care whether their victims are ministers, former ministers, traders, teachers, students, or farmers.
The same insecurity that has turned the lives of ordinary Nigerians into a daily nightmare is now knocking on doors many in government may have assumed were beyond its reach.
If the endless cries of ordinary Nigerians were not enough to spur this government into action, one would have expected that an attack affecting the family of a former member of the administration would finally underscore the urgency of the crisis. Sadly, insecurity has become so pervasive that no one is truly insulated from its consequences’ he said.
The former Vice President also noted that the primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property lamenting that many Nigerians now live under constant fear of abduction and violent crime.
He urged the President Bola Tinubu administration to abandon what he called a reactive approach to security and adopt a comprehensive strategy that is focused on intelligence gathering, prevention, and dismantling criminal networks while emphasizing the need for ‘a comprehensive, intelligence-driven strategy capable of dismantling kidnapping syndicates, securing vulnerable communities, and restoring public confidence in the state’s ability to protect lives and property’-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
