Goke Bamidele Calls Reopening Of Offa Robbery Case ‘Gross Misplacement Of Priority’, Urges Gov Abdulrazaq To Prioritize Tackling Insecurity
A leading Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero PDP House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Goke Bamidele has reacted to the decision taken by the Kwara State government to reopen the 2018 Offa robbery case describing it as a dangerous descent into political persecution and a clear abuse of governance priorities.
In a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his media office on Sunday, Hon Goke Bamidele said the decision to ‘resurrect’ a matter that has already been conclusively determined by a court of competent jurisdiction and upheld on appeal, raises serious questions about the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration’s respect for the rule of law and constitutional order.
‘It is both shocking and disappointing that the Kwara State Government could contemplate reopening a case that has been duly adjudicated, with its outcome affirmed by the appellate court. This is not only legally untenable but also morally questionable’ he said.
The PDP chieftain also noted that the renewed attempt to link political opponents, particularly former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, to the tragic Offa robbery incident aligns with a pattern of deliberate misinformation and calculated political attacks aimed at discrediting perceived political adversaries.

‘Drawing from the consistent position of the PDP and the clear and fact-based responses previously offered by Dr. Saraki, it is evident that these recycled allegations are nothing more than a tired script designed to manipulate public sentiment and take attention away from the glaring failures of governance in the state’ Hon Bamidele added.
He also described the governor’s action as a ‘gross misplacement of priority’ especially in the face of worsening security situation in Kwara South, where, he noted, communities have continued to suffer frequent attacks by bandits and criminal elements.
‘Our people in Ekiti, Irepodun, Isin, Oke-Ero and even Ifelodun are living in fear. Kidnappings have become rampant, with royal fathers, their family members, and countless innocent citizens becoming victims. Entire communities have been left at the mercy of criminals, with little or no decisive intervention from the government’ he said.
Hon Bamidele lamented that while residents grapple with insecurity, economic hardship, and social dislocation, the state government appears more focused on reviving politically motivated narratives rather than addressing the urgent needs of the people.
‘It is unacceptable that at a time when lives and livelihoods are under constant threat, the government is preoccupied with revisiting a painful episode in our history for political gain. This is nothing short of exploiting the wounds of the Offa people for survival politics’ he said.
The PDP reps aspirant further warned that weaponising state institutions for political vendettas will set a dangerous precedent and erode public trust in governance.
‘Governance is a sacred responsibility. It must not be reduced to a tool for vendetta or propaganda. The people deserve leadership that is focused, compassionate, and committed to solving real problems—not one that thrives on distractions and division’ he said.
He urged Governor Abdulrazaq to immediately redirect his administration’s energy and prioritize tackling insecurity, strengthening local intelligence networks, and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the state.
Hon Bamidele also urged security agencies and relevant authorities to remain professional and resist any attempt to be drawn into politically motivated actions that can undermine justice and fairness.
‘As leaders and stakeholders, we must rise above partisan interests and work collectively to restore peace, security, and confidence in our communities. Kwara deserves better’ he submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme?
